Winter lights in Ørestad Nord has been an ongoing project for years. In 2017-18 Kaleidoskop was asked to curate a large scale site specific piece and develope an event program that would contribute to redefine the use of space.
Winter lights in Ørestad Nord focused on showing light art’s ability to act as a local identity marker and to extend the use of a large public park over the winter months.
The project consisted of a collaboration with light artist Jakob Oredsson. who developed the site-specific piece Temperature Field. The piece created a constantly pulsating field of light beams and color temperatures. At sunset the light would pulse fast, in a smooth gradual rhythm and overnight would pulse gradually slower. Temperature Field invited the public to encounter the park in new ways and investigated the influences of color temperature and rhythm of light in public spaces.
Throughout the exhibition period Kaleidoskop initiated a series of events that invited the locals to get together to engage with the piece and their surroundings.
