Kaleidoskop grew from the experiences of developing and running Reflektor Light Festival
- a pioneering event in the Danish light art scene

Reflektor was established as the first light art festival in Copenhagen.

Arising from a deep curiosity towards light as a physical, social, cultural and scientific phenomena a small group of people - an anthropologist, an art historian and a lighting designer - came together to create a new type of art festival for the senses and the mind.

With an ambition to provide a quiet space for reflection and contemplation the cultural heritage site Søndermarken was selected as the backdrop for the event - inviting the audience to venture beyond the busy cityscape and silently drift in and out of darkness while wondering around the park.

Reflektor presented a program of site specific light art installations by Danish and international light artists - exhibited among historic monuments, dense bushes and the towering tree tops

Beyond the light art program Reflektor introduced the audience to a series of evocative light events - art walks, workshops and talks - that investigate the role of light as a phenomena beyond the visual, questioning and how we not only see but all sense light

Over the course of 3 days Reflektor
received more than 15.000 visitors in 2017 and layed the ground for years of collaborations and light art concepts in and outside of Denmark - including projects with Malmö Stand, Landskrona Stadt, City of Helsinki, Vordingborg Municipality and many more

Reflektor today
- a Nordic light art collaboration

Today Reflektor is carried on as a sister event in a Nordic light art collaboration with Sun Effects Finland.

The first edition of Reflektor Finland took place in Kivinokka 2018 - a remote islet outside of Helsinki chosen for its unique landscape, mossy hills and sandy beaches overlooking the city skyline. Since then it has evolved into several neighborhoods of Helsinki.
